Cabhair Christmas Swim Report
A crowd of over 100 made their way to the Grand Canal in Inchicore, Dublin Christmas morning to support the 31st Annual Christmas Cabhair Swim. This is a charitable swim in which every year sponsored swimmers give up their holiday morning in order to raise funds for the dependants of Irish Republican political prisoners.
The onlookers cheered on the seven swimmers as each one dived into the frigid waters. The organizers also provided soft drinks and snacks to those who attended and a roaring fire to warm up the swimmers. There was also music and a raffle in which a few prizes were handed out. The event was a great success and much credit must go to organizer John Horan of Cabhair. All in all a great day for a great cause
This is the second year in which the swimmers were sponsored by supporters in the United States. This year the organizer made available handmade ornaments to those who donated hundred dollars or more.
The National Irish Freedom Committee would like to extend a ‘well done” and say thank you to her and to all individuals who pitched in to support this most worthy cause.
