 November 11, 2102 --- Fenian Commemoration in Calvary Cemetery

The Fenian Graves Association and Cumann na Saoirse Naisiunta will hold their Annul  Fenian Commemoration at the Fenian Monument in Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY on November 11, 2012 to honor the memory and legacy of of Fenian heroes who have passed on.


October 27, 2012 -- International Day of Action for Irish Political Republican POW's

There will be a public meeting for Martin Corey, Marian Price and  Gerry McGeough on Saturday October 27th at 4pm at Rocky Sullivan's of Red Hook.
It will be jointly sponsored by the Free Marian Price Campaign, US, the Free Gerry McGough Campaign and the Release Martin Corey Campaign, US.
 This will be part of an international day of action for Irish political prisoners with events in Australia, Europe and throughout Ireland. Please save the date and help us get the word out. Click on the link below for further deatails.

October 21, 2012 --- New Jersey’s Champions of Irish Freedom Commemoration

The Fenian Graves Association will host a commemoration on Sunday, October 21, 2012  at 3.00 pm at Cryan's Restaurant, 24 First Street, South Orange, NJ. to commemorate our departed Fenian heroes and heroines. The names of those being honored include:

 Thomas Brennan,  Mayor Thomas Dunn, John J. Giblin and Thomas Rudden


October 13, 2012 --- The 17th Annual  Testimonial Awards Dinner

The 17th Annual  Testimonial Awards Dinner will be held at Rory Dolan’s Restaurant, McLean Ave in Yonkers on Saturday October 13th, 2012 from 6:00 to 10:00pm   This event organized by Cumann Na Saoirse Náisiúnta, honors Irish Americans and others for their contributions to the promotion of Irish history, culture, traditional Irish Republican principles, human rights and Irish freedom. Those being honored include:

Terry O’Callaghan: who will be the recipient of the Michael & Pearl Flannery Spirit of Freedom Award

Byron and Suzanne Heller: who will be the recipients of the Sr. Sarah Clarke Human Rights Award.

Brian Mallon: who will be the recipient of the Joseph Mary Plunkett Centenary Award.

May 6, 2012 --- Brian Mór Ó Baoighill Commemoration

A commemoration honoring the life and work of renowned Fenian artist Brian Mór Ó Baoighill will be held at Connolly's 121 west 45th street (between 6th and 7th Aves.) from 1 to 4pm on May 6th, 2012.  The event will be MC'd by Bernie's long time friend and fellow Diasporado, John McDonagh of Radio Free Éireann.  Personal recollections and tributes as well as musical performances by musicians he has supported over his many years are planned, as well as a unique artistic tribute. All those who were touched by Bernie's art are welcome to come join us as we celebrate the many gifts of Bernie's genius.


 April 8, 2012 --- Countdown to Easter 2016’

After breakfast  the Countdown to Easter 2016’  program will  commence. This program, initiated in 2010 by the late Brian Mór Ó Baoighill, will include  tributes to the executed signatories of the Easter Proclamation and to the other executed Leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising.


April 8, 2012 --- Annual Easter Commemoration

The annual  Easter Commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising will be held on Easter Sunday April 8th at 9.00am at the grave of  its’ co-founder Joe Stynes in Woodlawn Cemetery, East 233  St., Bronx, NY.

After the graveside ceremony breakfast will be served at Byrne & Hanrahan's located at 640 McLean Ave. at 10.00am.

The Fenian Graves Association will host a commemoration on Sunday October 23rd at 3.00 pm at Cryans Restaurant, 24 First Street, South Orange, NJ. to commemorate our departed Fenian heroes and heroines.

The names of those being honored will be posted in due course.


1981 Hunger Strike Commemoration in Yonkers

The National Irish Freedom Committee present a tribute to the 1981 Hunger Strike martyrs of Long Kesh prison in occupied Ireland at the Heritage, 960 McLean Ave, Yonkers,  NY on June 18th at 3.30pm. The tribute will include video footage taken during the 1981 hunger strike campaign in the Tri-state area

The 16th Annual  Testimonial Awards Dinner

The 16th Annual  Testimonial Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday April 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Connolly’s Pub & Restaurant, 121 West 45th Street in New York City.  This event organized by Cumann Na Saoirse Náisiúnta, honors Irish Americans and others for their contributions to the promotion of Irish history, culture, traditional Irish Republican principles, human rights and Irish freedom.

2011 Annual Easter Commemoration

The annual  Easter Commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising will be held at the Heritage Lounge 960 Mc Lean Ave., Yonkers NY on Easter Sunday, April 24th at 10.30 am.  Prior to the commemoration activities at the Heritage a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the graveside of Joe Stynes in Woodlawn Cemetery at Webster Avenue & E. 233rd St. in the Bronx, NY at 10.00 am. 

An Irish breakfast will be served at the conclusion of the commemoration ceremonies. Tickets are $25.00. Children under 14 free.

Irish Republican Commemorations

Cumann na Saoirse Náısiúnta (The National Irish Freedom Committee) will hold its annual Irish Republican Commemoration at  the Fenian Monument in Calvary Cemetery, (Section 16), 4902 Laurel Hill Blvd, Sunnyside, Queens on Sunday November 14th, at 11.00 am.

To access the monument enter the the gate by the cemetery office on Laurel Hill Blvd, opposite 49th St,. Go straight for about one mile following the internal cemetery road as it bends. The Fenian Monument comprised of a very large Celtic cross is on the right.


Cabhair Mid-year  Sustainer Appeal launched

The National Irish Freedom Committee has launched its mid-year Cabhair Sustainer Appeal for the benefit of the families and dependants of  Irish Republican political  prisoners incarcerated in H.M. Maghaberry Prison  in Co Antrim in British occupied Ireland and  in other prisons throughout Ireland’s 32 counties

 On Friday August 20th (later that day) a fundraiser will be held at 9:00 pm at the LOCAL PUBLIC HOUSE,  457 West Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut,  featuring Boston's Érín Óg

The 29th commemoration of the 1981 Hunger Strike

The NIFC will participate in a commemoration hosted by the Freedom For All Ireland Committee that will be held On Friday August 20th  at 10.00 am at BOBBY SANDS CIRCLE  at the corner of Freeman St. and  Maple Ave Hartford, Connecticut.

 The Commemoration will include a selection of readings, along with statements from current Irish political prisoners. A wreath will be laid in dedication.

 A reception will be held at The Maples Bar- across the street immediately after the memorial ceremony.


IPOW's protest outside British Consulate in Manhattan

On Saturday, June 26th, NIFC members and supporters will stage a  protest in support of Republican POWs in Maghaberry Jail, Co. Antrim, outside the British Consulate in Manhattan. The group will display posters protesting the treatment of Republican prisoners by prison authorities in the north of Ireland and will hand out leaflets to passersby.


The 15th Annual Michael Flannery Testimonial Awards Dinner

The 15th Annual Michael Flannery Testimonial Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday April 24, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Connolly’s Pub & Restaurant, 121 West 45th Street in New York City.  This event organized by Cumann Na Saoirse Náisiúnta, honors Irish Americans and others for their contributions to the promotion of Irish history, culture, traditional Irish Republican principles, human rights and Irish freedom. The theme of this year’s dinner is Countdown to 2016: the Centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Connolly's is conveniently located in the heart of Times Square and is accessible by public transportation. This event includes 3 hours of top shelf open bar with hot appetizers followed by a buffet dinner with dessert, coffee and tea. *** Traditional Irish music will be performed by Mary Courtney and Bernadette Fee of Morningstar and Gerry Enright. ***


2010 Annual Easter Commemoration

On  Sunday, April 4th  at  9 A.M. the annual Easter Commemoration will be held at the graveside of Joe Stynes in  Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Stynes was a lifelong Republican and Tan War veteran. From his immigration to America in 1927 to his death in the year 1991, he remained committed to the All-Ireland Republic proclaimed during Easter Week, 1916. Joe was active in Clan Na Gael and later in Irish Northern Aid. Remaining true to Republican principles, he helped found CnSN, which he remained a trustee of until his death. 


Remembering the Life and Work of John A. Costelloe  (1961 - 2008)

 On Sunday, December 13th at 3 PM, Cumann Na Saoirse Náısıúnta and the O'Donovan Rossa Society will co-host an event to honor the life and work of our late friend, John A. Costelloe, who passed away last December 18th.  This event will be held at Rocky Sullivan’s, 34 Van Dyke Street, Brooklyn, NY (718-246-8050).

John was a long-time and active member of both organizations. In addition to his work in the Irish Republican movement, John was a retired New York City firefighter and an accomplished actor.  He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared in many movies and television programs.  As an actor, he was most well known for his role in The Sopranos, in which he played Jim “Johnny Cakes” Witowski.  John also appeared in several productions with the renowned La Mama Experimental Theatre Club in Manhattan.
